Thanks to Janet Wickell, editor of the Quilting site at About.com, for her recent salute to Judie Rothermel’s Aunt Grace 1930’s reproduction fabrics, a sweet miniature quilt called Grace’s Spools. It measures 36-1/2″ square, just right for a table topper, small baby quilt or wall accent.
Quilters will love Janet’s easy instructions and related articles, all designed to teach you something new, no matter what your current skill level is. To recreate this look, pull a few Aunt Grace prints from your stash, then try adding a few new prints from AUNT GRACE CLASSICS, Judie Rothermel’s latest collection. Remember that “Aunt Grace” is the original brand of 1930’s reproduction prints, designed by Judie Rothermel exclusively for Marcus Fabrics since 1991! Happy stitching ; )

As a supporter and partner of Old Sturbridge Village, we had the pleasure of providing scholarships for OSV’s Discovery Camp program during the summer of 2008. Recently we received this note of thanks from the parents of Brandon and Jordan, two camp participants:

“During the week of August 4-8, 2008, our sons, Brandon and Jordan, had the privilege of attending a Discovery Camp at Old Sturbridge Village. We understand that it was because of a scholarship from Marcus Fabrics that they were able to attend. We wanted to say a big Thank You for the gift, as they would not have been able to attend with out the donation! They had a great time of learning and fun. Their leader, Mrs. Fisher, was excellent with them! I have included a picture of each of them in their costumes for you to have. Thank you for the company’s participation in OSV and the work they are doing at the village. Thank you again for helping to make Brandon’s and Jordan’s summer an exciting experience!”
We’re pleased to be a part of OSV’s success, not only in producing beautiful reproduction fabrics for quilting and crafts, but also in helping others to experience something informative, fun and exciting!

It’s September, time to celebrate one of our favorite pastimes! Whether you prefer to sew, quilt, or decorate, National Sewing Month is the perfect “excuse” to immerse yourself in your craft. In fact, any time not actually spent at the sewing machine or needle & thread should be enjoyed surfing your favorite fabric websites, planning new projects, and maybe even finishing up a UFO or two!
This year, be sure to check out the NSM special feature called “Go Green, Sew Green,” taken from the newsletter of the American Sewing Guild. Speaking of going green, see the new colors we’ve just added to our certified organic OASIS CANVAS! National Sewing Month is full of creative possibilities - enjoy it, and share your passion with others!
