Known as "The Quilted Crow Girls" from Australia, Leonie Bateman and Deirdre Bond-Abel have been designing quilts for some time now, with a signature style that combines woven wools with rich cotton prints. While their styles are quite similar, each designs independently.
Inspiration for the print collection, POMEGRANATE LANE came from the duo's many appliqué designs and their favorite color palettes. The scale of the prints make them very user friendly.
"It was important to us for our fabric line to reflect who we both are. Our coordinating wool range, THE SEASONS WOOL COLLECTION, is just so rich and luscious and combined with our fabric, go very well together. It is so lovely and soft and the perfect weight for appliqué. The colours range from rich autumn tones through to the softer hues making it perfect for all projects."
The stunning BOM quilt (76" x 76") that accompanies the collections is also a true reflection of their combined styles. It incorporates traditional pieced stars set in amongst wool appliqué blocks and surrounded by wool appliquéd borders. The wool palette inspired them to use layered flowers to show the subtle graduation between the hues; similarly, varying shades of green used in the vines and leaves resemble shading found in nature. The 9-month BOM program begins October 2014.
