Love working with large-scale designs? Or
maybe you like the look, but you're not sure how to use them.
Try these simple but effective tips from Cath & Kirsten of
Prints Charming:
|
- Cut large panels to use as a
"feature" fabric. For example, our rocket quilt uses
a 34" square as the centre panel. Create a picture with
the fabrics.
- Make great backs for quilts, especially the
hearts and large flowers. Using a large scale print for the
backing makes the quilt instantly reversible.
- Although the "popsicle" print
(N439) is a large design, it takes on the look of a stripe
when used as a binding. The oversized flower also gives a
wonderful effect when used as a bias binding.
- Cut large scale prints on the bias to create
interesting effects.
- Try simple running hand-stitching around the
large motifs. "We use Perle #8 threads and just have
fun!"
