Cutting Guide: |
Cream
- Cut four, 4-1/2" strips - cross-cut into 36, 4-1/2"
squares; Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each square.
Cut five, 5" strips - cross-cut into 38, 5" squares;
draw adiagonal line on the wrong side of all squares
Charm Squares - Cut four black print squares into quarters, for
a total of 16, 2-1/2" squares; draw a diagonal line on the
wrong side of each square
Green - Cut five, 1-1/2" strips (Inner Border)
Yellow - Cut five, 3-1/2" strips (Outer Border) |
Quilt Instructions: |
- With right sides together, layer a 4-1/2"
square on opposite corners of 16, 8-1/2" squares. Sew
on the diagonal line, trim seam allowance and press to
triangle. Select eight of these units and following the same
steps, layer a 2-1/2" black square on the remaining
corners of the 8-1/2" square. For the center block,
layer a 4-1/2" square on each corner of an 8-1/2"
square and follow same steps.

- With right sides together, layer a cream 5" square
onto 38, 5" charm squares. Sew 1/4" on each side
of the diagonal line. TIP: You may want to take a
"scant ¼" seam allowance for this step to ensure
a 4-1/2" half-square triangle unit. Cut apart on drawn
line and press to charm square. If necessary, square up to
4-1/2".

Make 76 |
- Follow layout Diagram A and sew quilt top together, noting
placement of half-square triangles. Quilt should measure
48-1/2"x 48-1/2".
- Piece 1-1/2" inner border strips together as
necessary in order to cut two, 48-1/2" strips and two,
50-1/2"strips. Sew to quilt and press to border. Repeat
these steps for 3-1/2"outer border, cutting two,
50-1/2" strips and two, 56-1/2" strips. (Diagram
