Love & Harmony Flannel
Cozy Shawl
by Lisa Shepard Stewart
This easy shawl sews up quickly, just in time for upcoming
breast cancer service projects in October! It features our
Strip-It pattern, lined with the inspirational text print. We
show it with simple quilting along the Strip-It lines - try your
own embellishments, such as a pink rhinestone brooch to hold it
closed at the front, or try a pink tassel to dangle at the lower
corner of the center back. It's 15" width works equally
well to keep shoulders cozy whether you're walking or running
for the cure, or just relaxing at home in bed.

You'll Need: |
1
yard Love & Harmony Flannel Strip-It
1 yard Love & Harmony Flannel inspirational text print (or
your favorite flannel coordinate) |
Instructions: |
- From each fabric, cut (2) 16" wide strips x width of
fabric.
- Pin the two Strip-It sections end to end, to form one long
16" wide strip. With right sides together, join the
pieces using a 1" seam allowance. Trim seam allowance
to ½", cutting away the selvedge. Press seams open.
- Fold this piece in half along the seam. Mark a diagonal
line from the top of the fold, down to 15" in from the
seam as shown. Sew along this line. Trim seam about ¼"
from stitching and press seam allowance flat.
|
 |
- Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the text print, being careful to
line up both sides of the text to read right side up when
the diagonal seam forms the shawl's V-shape.
- With right sides together, line up the two V-shape
fabrics, having raw edges even.
- Sew around all sides of the shawl, leaving an opening of
about 10" for turning. Trim seam allowances &
corners; turn right side out. Press.
- To finish, quilt lightly if desired. Add a brooch, large
button, pink ribbons or other trims as desired.
