| Making
the Flower Blocks: |
With
right sides together, layer a cream 5" square on each
of the floral 5" squares. Sew ¼" on each side of
the drawn line. Cut apart on drawn line, press to floral and
square up to 4-1/2". (Diagram a.)
|
With

each corner of the pink and orange 4-1/2" squares. Sew
on the diagonal line, trim seam allowance and press to
corner triangle. (Diagram b.) (Note: 12 will be used for the
blocks and 4 will be the cornerstones of the border.)
|

layout Diagram c., sew together the flower blocks, pressing
in direction of arrows. Make one flower block from each of
the floral prints, making six with orange center squares and
six with pink.

rectangle, pressing to green. Make 12 of these stem units,
which should measure 6-1/2" x 12-1/2". (Diagram

|
With
right sides together, sew a stem unit to each of the 12
floral blocks. Block should measure 12-1/2" x
18-1/2". (Diagram e.) Using quilt photo as an
approximate placement guide, appliqué two leaves in place
on each block
|
| Finishing
the Quilt: |
- Sew flower blocks together in three rows of four blocks as
shown in Diagram f.
- For border treatment, piece together 1-1/2" cream
strips as necessary to cut four, 48-1/2" lengths. Sew
to each side of the 12-1/2" pieced floral strips and
sew to top and bottom of quilt. Repeat for sides, cutting
four, 1-1/2" x 54-1/2" cream strips and sewing to
both sides of the 18-1/2" pieced floral strips. Sew the
remaining flower center units to each end of the strips and
sew to sides of quilt (Diagram g.). Quilt as desired and
make approximately 250" of scrappy binding using strips
from the remainder of each floral fat quarter.
