Metro
Blue Wall Hanging
Designed & Sewn by Donie Mason
This simple but eye-catching design is the perfect way to
show off your favorite METRO
BLUE prints. Follow Donie suggestions for fabric
placement, or interchange them to suit your own style.
NOTE: Donies design makes a great decorative accent
for the bedroom, especially when paired with the Mero Blue
Designer Bedding ensemble, featured in the Spring issue of Sew
Simple magazine by Lisa Shepard Stewart. Better yet,
consider increasing the number of blocks in this design for a
full sized quilt to match Lisas sheets and pillowcases! The
issue will be available on newsstands March 20! |

Sew
strips together, mixing the light, medium and dark prints.
Cross-cut into 2-1/2 wide strips. Join the pieced strips
together into pairs, varying the positions of the light,
medium and dark prints. Resulting strip units should be 8
squares x 2 squares. (Fig. 1)
|
Pair
up the light and dark 4-1/2 squares and join them to
create 4 units. Sew each unit to one of the large floral
squares.
- Sew the light 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 rectangles to the
opposite sides of the dark large floral squares. Sew the
dark 8-1/2 x 4-1/2 rectangles to the opposite sides of
the light large floral squares, for a total of 4 block
units. (Fig. 2)
|
Sew
one strip unit to each side of the block unit to complete
the square block. Layout the four completed square blocks,
rotating them, as shown in the photo; join together and
square the edges.
- Sew the first border to the edge of the quilt; sew the
second border.
- Layer, quilt and bind as desired.
