Marcus Fabrics Unveils Its American Valor Fabrics Collection for 2011

The Marcus collection was designed by Faye Burgos, who honors all who serve. She created this line in part as a personal tribute to her brother Hugh Liverman, a Purple Heart recipient who served in Viet Nam and her nephew Aaron Liverman, also a Marine, who served in Iraq. “All who serve here and abroad deserve our respect and gratitude. And this is my THANK YOU in fabric,” says Burgos.

Because "Under Our Wings" will likely attract new quilters who want to get involved, Faye Burgos’ design of the central panel and her innovative Strip-It pre-printed stripe design and classic smaller coordinates are very easy to use. With Nancy Rink's well-balanced design and easy piecing techniques, quilters of any skill level can create a beautiful quilt that they’ll be proud to donate to the cause. Also, the collection beautifully blends traditional and contemporary color and style in a gender-neutral fashion, making it suitable for both men and women in the armed forces and their families.

“All of the participating companies are to be commended for bringing their design talents to this important cause. True to our overall style, our collection is an updated take on traditional motifs. Faye’s sophisticated, easy-to-use center panel and Strip-It™ fabric reflect Marcus’ dedication to inspiring and educating quilters of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals,” says Lisa Shepard Stewart, marketing manager for Marcus.

The program launch comes at the same time as the launch of Marcus’ own 100th Anniversary celebration in 2011 and its involvement in special causes like this one have helped to contribute to its longevity in the industry. We’re sure that that our involvement in the American Valor program will be one of the highlights of this very special year,” says Shepard Stewart.
